Art. 276 of Decree 390 of 2016: Import restrictions. They are articles of prohibited importation under this modality:

a. Coins, bank bills, bank papers, paper money or any other bearer security and traveler's checks.

b. Platinum, gold or silver, manufactured or not, precious stones, jewelry and other precious objects.

c. Weapons, parts, accessories and components, as well as their ammunition.
Precursor products in the manufacture of narcotics, narcotic drugs.

d. Medications not authorized by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection or the entity acting in its stead.

e. Goods whose importation is prohibited in accordance with the provisions of Article 182 of Decree 390 of 2016.

  • All shipments will have a fixed cost of USD $10.00 for each international guide.
  • A minimum insurance charge of USD $3.00 per guide will be made.
  • The insurance of USD 3.00 per guide has a coverage of USD 100.00 in case of total loss or major damage.
  • Additional insurance for more than USD 100.00 = 3% of the value of the goods. Prior notice must be given.
  • Insurance coverage is available up to a maximum of USD 2000.00 and prior notice must be given.
IMPORTANT: The insurance will not be effective if the goods are not properly packaged for international transport by the Shipper or supplier. 
 

If the shipment is destined for a municipality in Colombia for which there is no coverage, it will be notified at the time of billing the shipment to the customer and the cost of this National dispatch will be at cost, according to the carrier.   • The rates mentioned herein do not include customs duties in Colombia.
  • The following description of tax collection will be under Tariff Item 9807.20.00.00 (PA Postal Traffic).
  • The general import duty rate is 0% for items with a value of less than USD 200.00 and 10% for items with a value of more than USD 200.00.
  • The general import VAT rate is 0% for items whose value is equal to or less than USD 200.00 and their country of origin.
  • The general import VAT rate is 19% for items whose value exceeds USD 200.00 and their country of origin.
  • The general import VAT rate is 19% for items whose country of origin is other than the United States, regardless of their declared value.
  • If the waybill has a different tariff item, it will be charged accordingly.
  • If the customer has a different tariff heading, the USACO official must be notified prior to the arrival of the package at origin.
  • Volumetric weight: This will be the difference between the actual weight and the physical volume.
  • Volumetric weight will be found as follows for shipments originating in Miami:
  • La*W*H / 6000 = kilograms *2.2046 = Weight in LB volume
  • Weight Volume= Weight Lb Vol - Weight Lb Real
  • Volume weight will be charged for each LB that the volume weight exceeds the physical weight at USD 0.50; in addition to the actual rate per physical weight.
  • Volumetric weight will be as follows for shipments originating in Guangzhou:
  • La*W*H / 5000 = kilograms * 2.2046 = Weight in LB volume
  • Weight Volume= Weight Lb Vol - Weight Lb Real
  • Volume weight will be charged for each LB that the volume weight exceeds the physical weight at USD 5.00 in addition to the actual physical weight rate.
  • Volumetric weight will be found as follows for shipments originating in Madrid:
  • La*W*H / 6000 = kilograms * 2.2046 = Weight in LB volume
  • Weight Volume= Weight Lb Vol - Weight Lb Real
  • The Volume weight will be made for each LB that the volume weight exceeds the physical weight at USD $4.00; additional to the actual rate by physical weight.

a. Its value does not exceed two thousand United States dollars (USD 2,000).

b. That its weight does not exceed fifty (50) kilograms.

c. That they do not include merchandise on which there are legal or administrative restrictions for their importation, except in the case of shipments that do not constitute commercial shipments. Shipments that do not constitute commercial shipments shall be understood to be those that do not exceed six (6) units of the same class.
